A driving force and primary songwriter behind Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band, Josh Phillips is branching out to diversify his unquenchable creative spirit and spearhead Folk Festival. Josh recently began a solo career to get back to his roots and harness a more simple sound that embraces a song and its lyrics and has been hard at work creating his debut musical offering. The Folk Fest (at its core) is a collective of Asheville musicians including Elijah Cramer from Strut, Ryan Burns from Laura Reed & Deep Pocket, and Nick Hope from Hope Massive. Greg Hollowell and Derrick Johnson from Asheville Horns also often join them. Josh Phillips Folk Festival is fueled by Josh's smoky, soulful voice and award-winning song writing and is an array of genres both uplifting and reminiscent with catchy melodies and feel-good lyrics.
